i'd like to start sharing more about what i'm reading from time to time. maybe some recommendations. maybe a book report or two. or maybe just a monthly round-up of what i've read and which i've liked the most.
so i am starting that today because...well...today feels like a day, the start of a time in my life, i'll need reading and words and art more than ever.
yesterday a friend of mine texted and asked me for some contemporary poetry recs. i figured i'd share them with you too. there is no poetry at the inauguration this year, though that seems to be a republican pattern. but there will be poetry in my apartment.
here are some that i've read in the last year or am reading now:
Ada Limón - currently reading her collection, Bright Dead Things
Rupi Kaur - read her collection, Milk and Honey in one night
Yrsa Daley-Ward - loved her collection, bone.
Saeed Jones - Prelude to Bruise
Maggie Nelson - Bluets
Warsan Shire - Teaching My Mother How to Give Birth
Camille Rankine - Incorrect Merciful Impulses
Anne Carson - Glass, Irony, and God
